Planetary Service biedt stageplaatsen aan in land- en tuinbouw in ontwikkelingslanden, vooral Afrika. Een stage van twee of drie maanden kan onderdeel zijn van een opleiding. Vaak is het aan de student om een stageplaats te zoeken. Ook komen docenten niet altijd aan begeleiding toe en soms ontbreekt de interculturele deskundigheid.

Planetary Service is een eenmansbedrijf van Otto Kroesen, gepensioneerd stagecoördinator voor ontwikkelingsstages van de Technische Universiteit Delft. Hij bemiddelt stageplaatsen voor Nederlandse bedrijven en stichtingen die actief zijn in ontwikkelingslanden.

Planetary Service verleent de volgende diensten:

1. Bemiddeling van stageplaatsen tussen aanbieders en studenten.
2. Inhoudelijke bemiddeling en procesbegeleiding in de communicatie.
3. Waar nodig en gewenst supervisie en stagebegeleiding met veel aandacht voor het interculturele aspect.
4. Studenten uit Nederlandse onderwijsinstellingen zijn allemaal welkom
5. Bedrijven en andere partners zijn welkom om initiatief te nemen en hun stage-aanbod te melden (wel altijd landbouw-gerelateerd).
6. Docenten en studenten en onderwijsinstellingen op zoek naar stagemogelijkheden zijn welkom om contact op te nemen.
7. Multidisciplinaire teams kunnen worden samengesteld uit studenten die zich aangemeld hebben, afkomstig uit verschillende studierichtingen en verschillende onderwijsinstellingen.
8. Planetary Service faciliteert maatwerk en matchmaking bij stage-opdrachten, teams van studenten en partners overzee.
9. Stage-opdrachten kunnen gebruikt worden als deelopdrachten en praktijkopdrachten voor bepaalde vakken (in overleg met de onderwijsinstelling en stage-aanbieders). Planetary Service faciliteert dit proces tussen onderwijsinstellingen en opdrachtgevers.

De winst voor Planetary Service zit er vooral in dat meer mensen zich committeren aan ontwikkelingslanden, groeien in verantwoordelijkheid, en werken aan de maatschappij van de toekomst.

Verder geeft Planetary Service advies en training op het gebied van cross-cultureel entrepreneurship. Hoe moet je onderneming opereren in een andere cultuur en in een andere institutionele omgeving? De bedrijfscultuur is anders, de rol van de overheid is anders – anders dan men in Nederland gewend is. Er gelden niet alleen andere regels maar ook andere waarden.

Ook geeft Planetary Service trainingen op het gebied van intercultureel management. Ook bedrijven in Nederland hebben te maken met een veelheid van culturen, waarden en omgangsvormen. Hoe om te gaan met verschillen? Hoe kan dat ook positief uitpakken voor het bedrijf zelf?

In de visie van Planetary Service is het nodig dat mensen groeien aan hun werkzaamheden en blijven bewegen. De planeten aan het firmament zijn voortdurend in beweging. Het woord planeet is afkomstig van het Griekse woord plano, zwerven. De pionier probeert en weet niet waar dat toe zal leiden. Maar ook put de pionier uit de ervaringen en verworvenheden van voorgaande tijden. Een vruchtbare carrière ontwikkelt zich in dialoog met de menselijke geschiedenis en is een bijdrage aan de wording van de mens en de maatschappij van de toekomst.

Planetary Service…

Planetary Service offers internships in agriculture and horticulture in developing countries, especially Africa. A two- or three-month internship can be part of a degree program. Mostly it is up to the student to find an internship. Also, instructors do not always succeed in providing guidance and sometimes intercultural expertise is lacking.

Planetary Service is a one-man company run by Otto Kroesen, retired internship coordinator for development internships at Delft University of Technology. He mediates internships for Dutch companies and foundations that are active in developing countries.

Planetary Service not only mediates, but also takes care of the introduction, guidance and, if necessary, support in case of problems. This applies to the companies, but also to the teachers and institutions from which students participate in these internships.

Plenary Service provides the following services:

1. Mediation of internships between providers and students.
2. Mediation in defining the content of the internship and process guidance in communication.
3. Where needed and desired, supervision and internship guidance with strong attention for the intercultural aspects
4. Students from Dutch educational institutions are all welcome
5. Companies and other partners are welcome to take the initiative and offer their internships (always related to agriculture).
6. Teachers and students and educational institutions looking for internship opportunities are welcome to contact us
7. Multidisciplinary teams can be composed of students who have applied, coming from different fields of study and different educational institutions
8. Planetary Service facilitates customization and matchmaking in internship assignments, teams of students and partners overseas
9. Internship assignments can be used as and divided in short practical assignments for certain courses (in consultation with the educational institution and internship providers). Planetary Service facilitates this process between educational institutions and clients.

For mediation, guidance and supervision, depending on the time spent, a certain (non-commercial) amount is agreed between the student and Otto Kroesen. An alternative may be to raise money for the project. Everything in further consultation and depending on the possibilities.

The profit for Planetary Service lies mainly in the fact that more people commit themselves to developing countries, grow in responsibility, and work on the society of the future.

Planetary Service also provides advice and training in the area of cross-cultural entrepreneurship. How should your business operate in a different culture and institutional environment? The business culture is different, the role of the government is different – different from what one is used to in the Netherlands. Not only do different rules apply, but also different values.

In the vision of Planetary Service, people need to grow and keep moving. The planets at the firmament are constantly on the move. The word planet is derived from the Greek word plano, to wander. The pioneer makes an attempt and does not know where it will lead. But the pioneer also draws on the experiences and achievements of previous times. A fruitful career develops in dialogue with human history and is a contribution to the coming into being of the society of the future.
